A pre-existing condition is any injury or illnesses that your pet shows symptoms of before coverage begins.
You don’t need to formally know the name of the condition for it to be considered pre-existing.
Pre-existing conditions are not covered by any pet insurance providers.
Can I insure my dog with a pre existing condition?
You can, but most insurers won’t cover any pre-existing medical conditions. If your pet has a pre-existing condition, and you want cover for it, you’ll need to take out a specific type of policy that’ll cover the condition. These are hard to come by, because not many insurers offer cover.
Can you get pet insurance if your pet is already sick?
While your pet’s current sickness won’t be covered under your pet insurance policy as it’s a pre-existing condition, you can still get a policy for new injuries and illnesses down the road.
Does lifetime pet insurance cover pre existing conditions?
We have a unique policy called Pre-Existing that covers medical conditions your dog or cat has experienced in the past as long as they have not received treatment, medication or advice for them in the three months before your policy starts. You’ll also receive up to £7,000 of lifetime vet fee cover for new conditions.
