Submissions

To submit your work for consideration for publication with Animalia, please send it as a Microsoft Word attachment to submissions@animaliajournal.com.


Guidelines

We are accepting the following types of work on a rolling basis:

-Scholarly papers

-Short editorials

-Media (book, movie) reviews

​-Creative pieces (photographs, drawings, short stories, poetry)

Please apply the following guidelines when preparing your manuscript:

Length: Scholarly articles should be between 10-20 double spaced pages (approximately 3000-6000 words); media reviews and opinion pieces should have a limit of 1000 words

Citation style: Acceptable citation styles include MLA, APA, and Chicago. ​Please note that manuscripts with a large number of citation errors will be returned to the author for correction.

Please include a 150-250 word abstract and 4-6 keywords for your article. Written works should be submitted as Word documents.

For visual creative works such as a photograph or drawing, please submit a high quality image file; a minimum size of 72 dots per inch (dpi) will suffice for web viewing. If the image quality is too poor, your work cannot be published.

Your work must be original and unpublished in any other venue. In accordance with United States copyright law, all material submitted to the journal will remain the sole property of the author.

All submissions must adhere to the Canisius College Code of Academic Integrity.

Reviewers will receive your submissions anonymously. Once publication decisions have been made, you will receive an e-mail notifying you if your submission has been accepted or declined. Brief feedback will be given if you are not accepted for publication.
